Confessions of a Craft Junky

I have been so busy doing so much. Scrapbooking. Quilting. Knitting. I have even purchased a cross stitich do-dad.

I have done two quilts. One baby quilt and one wallhanging. Pictures are on my work laptop, so I can't post them yet.

I just bought the Fall 2006 Vogue Knitting.

I am doomed.

Highest number of Natural Disasters...

Its amazing how many things are going wrong right now...or is it because CNN has cottoned on that we are all a bunch of lookie loos? And why is it that if its a popular vaction area, there is more press time, than if its in...oh I don't know...India/Pakistan?

Whatever....I think I'm getting synical... "Watch it CNN, I am becoming VERY desensitized to natural disasters....." Whatever happened to a good court case? Remember how we were pinned to the tv for hours watching court cases....yawn....Robert Blake, who?

What next? You know what we need? A good alien landing. Ya, that would be kewl. Egads...I swear I think the word hurricane is rapidly becoming a dirty word...."Hey, you mother hurricane." "Whatch it you dumb..hurricane..." Okay, so that is where the word hurricane doesn't really strike fear into your hearts.

Sorry. I guess it was seeing the drunk guy in Key West running around the streets and the CNN people thinking that he really was being blown over, when in reality, he was a big freakin' goof ball and being a mime. And we all love to hate mimes.

Where is my hurricane sweater? I dropped some hurricane stitches...hurricane damn it.

Oh my gosh, its been too long. I am knitting the hbf a lovely sweater, of which I must do a show und tell. So this is what is occupying all my time. My socks are off to the wayside.

This is great stress relief as I am the General Contractor for my office renovation. Always a fun job. So I come home and furiously knit my cares away.

And now the rains have even more knitting time....not a bad thing.

Something Cheerful!!

I have ordered fantastic looking knitting book from Mission Falls called "Spirit". I am really looking forward to getting my hands on it. The designs look unique and should be relatively challenging yet very do-able.

The new fall colours in yarn look yummy too. I shall endeavour to take pics of some of my latest purchases and display them....

Until then,

"New Orleans is Sinking...."

I can't stop watching CNN and what is going on down south. I sit there and knit away on a sweater project (and my sock) and get inches done without even remembering that I have knitted them.

I don't want to imagine a life like that, and yet, I live on an earthquake zone. A major earthquake has not hit our area for over 300 years...we are over due. I am in the midst of gathering my information and setting up an emergency kit/system. I will endeavour to complete this by end of September. I want a kit in my car, my home and in my office. Try to cover as many basis as possible.

But what if....what if I didn't have a home, lost family, lost of job and the only thing I had was the clothes on my back? What if....I lost my partner in life? My friends? My parents?

I am only using my imagination and my heart stops and I can't breathe.....

Shall we Tango?

My darling b/f and I dance. We Cha Cha, we Foxtrot, and we Tango. Neither one of us is particularly good. I thought that I would be a natural; however, its like learning a foreign language in proper form. There will be no making it up as you go along. B/F is from Calgary and has a tendency to "Cowboy" everything. Even makes theTango into a variation of the two step, which cracks up our dance teacher, Ms. Elaine.

He tries. He really really tries. He is far more concentrated on doing the dance then I am. He is so excited that in a few months we will learn the Waltz....two step style. Sigh.

Once again - like golf - it was all about the cute shoes. Both "sports" (and I use the term loosely) have cute shoes. I'm in. Mine aren't all silver, but they are traditional. B/F has a Latin wearing high heels, at least for him. Then he reconciled himself by discovering that his cowboy boots had just as high of a heel....thats why, when I met him, I could have worn he was over 5' 10"...sign....more like 5' 9"....but still handsome to me.....

Egads!! Scrapbooking is addictive....

Like I needed another freakin' hobby!! But I have to admit that my pictures look good all done up. This hobby sucks up the money faster than I will endeavour to clip those 40% off coupons in the Michaels flyers!!

I have also started my lovely sock. I knitted it tonight whilst the lovely b/f practiced his Tango. Ballroom dancing is also become an obsession of mine. We are in a student showcase to show off our twinkling toes. Tee Hee. Actually, if you saw the movie "Shall we Dance?" that is EXACTLY how our dance lessons are, except we are no where near to competing.

Started the book for the bookclub. Highly recommend: "the namesake" by Jhumpa Lahiri.

Anyway, I am off for the evening to read and de-stress. TTFN
